Alexandra Rodrigues Gonçalves

Alexandra Rodrigues Gonçalves is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Algarve, at the Higher School of Hotel Management and Tourism where she has taught since 1997. She works in the area of Social Sciences with an emphasis on Economics and Management. She is an Integrated Researcher at CinTurs -Research Center for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being, University of Algarve, Portugal, with a special focus on the areas of Tourism, Territory, Heritage, Cultural Management and Creative Industries. PhD in Tourism from the University of Évora (2013), Master in Cultural Management - specialization in Cultural Heritage from the University of Algarve (cooperation with University of Paris-8, Sorbonne) (2002), Postgraduate in Cultural Heritage Law from the Faculty of Law from the University of Lisbon (2016), Degree in Marketing (1997).

She served as Regional Director of Culture for the Algarve from 2013 to 2018; She was a councilor at Faro City Council between 2009 and 2013, with responsibility for culture, tourism, social action, economy and health. Since 2019, she has been Director of the Organic Unit of the University of Algarve Escola Superior de Gestão Hotelaria e Turismo, Portugal.

She has developed and published research in the areas of tourist and cultural experience, cultural and creative tourism, cultural heritage and museum management, event evaluation, management and strategic planning, among others. She was the regional coordinator and responsible researcher at UALG for the research project funded by the Science and Technology Foundation CREATOUR- Creative Tourism Destination Development in Small Cities and Rural Areas (2016-2020), and since September she has been the Coordinator at UALG of the iHeritage Project - ICT Mediterranean platform for UNESCO cultural heritage, iHERITAGE, B_A.2.1_0056 (ENI CBC MED Programme).
